Our Farm in Kentucky, before & after.
Before = 3Jun07
After = 4Sep07

Here’s a satellite view of our property.  Our property is bordered by the 2 roads, the county line on the west & the thin white line to the south.

The farm to the north belongs to Curtis, an old farmer that let’s the girls ride in his fields.

The yellow square is where the new horse barn is.  The white one is the shop.  The thin white lines between them mark the backyard.

The thin white lines through the woods show where we had a bulldozer go through so we could fence.

Looking west up the lane.  On the right is how the place was when we got here.  We’ve added a fence around the entire property that keeps the dogs & horses in.  Also a circular drive in front of the house.  Sorry it’s so hard to see in the right hand ‘after’ picture, but it got late, as usual.

Looking north from in front of the house, here’s my shop.  As you can see, the grass is all brown now.  Look at the plants around the bird bath – they’re the same green color.  We’re having a terrible drought.  Hay has gone from $5 to $14/bale at the local feed store & mostly just isn’t available.  The pretty new shop makes up for it, though.

The old barn, on the left, is going to be torn down, eventually.  The black barn all the way back now has a gravel floor.  It is used for storing hay & extra stuff, such as overflow from the shop.  I’ll also be keeping the tractor in there.

Other views of my shop.

Here’s the back of the shop (top left).

Looking in through the garage door, my new lathe is on the right, next to the door.  As you can see, even though it is 3 times the size of my old shop, it’s already full. <sigh>  I’ve still got a lot to put away, though.

The back of the house (west, center of the property) now has the new barn.  The views aren’t quite the same.  In the right picture, I’m standing outside the back yard fence, which is just past the white pole & little bushes in the left picture.

Top left is inside the shed area of the barn.  You can see the 2 stalls.  We’re still lacking the bars & doors.  Hopefully they’ll be in week after next.

Bottom left is the side of the barn with a wash stall & where you’d walk in to grooming, storage & the tack room.  As you can see, the tack room has  all the comforts of home.

Looking north at the house, the barn is on the left & the shop is on the right.

Looking East, the back of the barn is on the right with the shop the furthest away.
